Profound pricing starts at $99 a month for tracking ChatGPT only, billed annually with two months free. Its Growth tier at $399 a month adds Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, also on an annual term. The real alternatives are tools that either measure more engines on a monthly plan, or find the people who can cite you after the measurement is done.

Answer engine optimisation: it tracks how a brand appears across AI answer engines, reports prompt volumes and agent traffic, and runs content agents against what it finds.

Published price

  • Starter $99/month (billed yearly, 2 months free; ChatGPT tracking only, 50 prompts, 1,500 responses a month, 3 seats)
  • Growth $399/month (billed yearly, 2 months free; 3 answer engines, 100 prompts, 9,000 responses a month)
  • Enterprise Custom (tailored packages; up to 9 answer engines, SSO/SAML, SOC 2, ChatGPT Shopping)

Pick them when

You are an enterprise, you want the deepest measurement in the category, and you want prompt volumes and agent traffic alongside it. They have the most data and the most engines, and at Enterprise nothing else here matches the coverage.

Checked facts

  • Its $99 Starter tier tracks ChatGPT and nothing else. Perplexity and Google AI Overviews start at Growth, $399/month. (source, checked 2026-08-23)
  • Both published prices are annual-billing prices. The page prints "$99/month" with "Billed yearly" and "2 months free" beneath it. (source, checked 2026-08-23)
  • Enterprise is the only tier with SSO/SAML, and the only one that tracks more than three answer engines. (source, checked 2026-08-23)
  • Its own domain holds 3,545 referring domains. (DataForSEO backlinks, checked 2026-08-23)

Ranked by how far each one takes you

The job runs in three steps: read what the answer engines say, find the pages and people behind those answers, then send the approach. Most tools in this category do the first step only. Every cell below comes from the vendor's own published pages, and a field we have not checked says so rather than counting against them.

* AirOps: ChatGPT only, and only from its Solo tier up — the rest of the product is content production.

Why Mentionry is first: it is the only row that does not stop at the reading. It records what the answer engines on your plan say about you every day, then takes the pages those answers cited and finds the journalists, podcasts, awards and contributor programmes behind them, plus the pages linking to your competitors and not to you. Each opening is judged one at a time, and the ones worth taking arrive with the email already written. As with every tool here, the engines depend on the rung: $99 a month runs ChatGPT alone, $399 runs 3 engines, and the quoted tier runs every engine that can run.

Mentionry sends from your own connected mailbox. Whether a page then cites you is the publisher's decision, not ours, and nothing here is promised.

Why look for an alternative to Profound

Profound is built for deep measurement. Its Enterprise tier tracks up to nine answer engines, reports prompt volumes and agent traffic, and offers SSO and SOC 2 compliance. For a large team that needs the most data in the category, it is a strong choice.

You might look elsewhere for two reasons. The first is pricing. Both of Profound's published prices are annual billing prices. The $99 Starter tier tracks only ChatGPT. To track Google AI Overviews or Perplexity, you need the $399 Growth tier, also on an annual commitment. If you prefer to pay by the month, or you need more engines without an enterprise quote, other tools offer that.

The second reason is scope. Profound measures where you stand in AI answers. It does not find journalists asking for sources, podcasts booking guests, or the pages your competitors are linked on. If you need the reading and then the work, the tools that do both are different.

Profound

Profound tracks how a brand appears across AI answer engines. It reports visibility, share of voice, and the prompt volumes and agent traffic behind the answers. Its agents can write content against what it finds.

Its Starter tier is $99 a month, billed annually, and tracks ChatGPT only. The Growth tier is $399 a month, billed annually, and adds Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. Enterprise is custom quoted and is the only tier with SSO, SAML, and tracking for more than three engines.

Choose Profound when you are an enterprise, you want the deepest measurement in the category, and you want prompt volumes and agent traffic alongside it. At the Enterprise level, nothing else here matches its data coverage.

Look elsewhere if you need a monthly contract, or if you need the work that follows the measurement. Profound's agents write content. They do not find the people who can cite you or draft the outreach from your own mailbox.

Peec AI

Peec AI tracks brand appearances in AI assistant answers and reports share of voice. It is a measurement tool.

Its published prices are annual billing prices. Starter is $80 a month for 50 prompts and three models. Pro is $205 a month for 150 prompts. Advanced is $420 a month for 350 prompts. You choose three models from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity and Gemini. All eleven models are Enterprise only.

Choose Peec AI when you want measurement and nothing else, you have somebody to act on it, and you track a lot of prompts. At 350 prompts on Advanced, it is cheaper per prompt than many alternatives.

Look elsewhere when you want the reading and then the work. Measurement tells you that you are absent. It does not get you named on the pages the answers cited, nor does it draft the approach to the people behind them.

AirOps

AirOps is a content production platform with AI search visibility layered on top. It tracks prompts and pages, then runs workflows and agents to write and refresh content.

Its pricing page publishes a figure for one tier only. Insights is free. The Solo, Pro, Pages and Enterprise tiers carry limits and no published price. The Solo tier's AI search insights cover ChatGPT only. Multi engine insights start at the unpublished Pro tier.

Choose AirOps when your bottleneck is producing content rather than knowing where you stand. Its workflow and grid tooling is strong, and the free tier lets you try it before a sales call.

Look elsewhere when you want to know what a plan costs before you book a call. And when you want the off site half, the pages the answers cited and the people to approach. AirOps is built for on site content, not for finding and pitching external opportunities.

Scrunch AI

Scrunch AI provides AI search monitoring, moving toward what the company calls an Agent Experience Platform. It tracks brand citations and agent traffic on your own site, and runs site audits aimed at how AI agents read it.

Its Core tier is $250 a month for 125 prompts and tracks four engines, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot. It is a genuine monthly price with a seven day free trial. All nine engines, API access and SSO are Enterprise only, at an unpublished price.

Choose Scrunch AI when you care as much about what AI agents do on your site as what they say about you elsewhere. Its agent traffic and site audit work is the most developed in the category.

Look elsewhere when you want the off site half. Its audits tell you how to make your own pages readable to an agent. That only helps once the answer already reaches your site. Getting named on somebody else's page is a different job.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI tracks brand mentions and link citations across AI answer engines, with prompt research and generative engine optimisation audits.

Its published prices are monthly prices. Lite is $29 a month for 15 prompts across four engines. Standard is $189 a month for 100 prompts and API access. Premium is $489 a month for 400 prompts. Claude, Gemini and Google AI Mode are paid add ons on every tier.

Choose Otterly.AI when you want to start cheaply and you want a monthly term. Twenty nine dollars for fifteen prompts across four engines is the lowest monthly price in this category.

Look elsewhere when fifteen prompts is not enough to answer what to do. It answers whether you are absent. It does not find the pages and the people behind the answers, nor does it draft the outreach from your own mailbox.

Featured.com is an AI PR co pilot that finds media opportunities and helps you pitch them. It is the company behind Connectively.

Its Lite tier is $29 a month, billed annually. Pro is $79 a month, billed annually. The homepage lists link gap analysis among its capabilities. The pricing page states all plans include every feature and lists eleven features. None of those features is link gap analysis, backlinks, or anything about links.

Choose Featured.com when you want the earn channel and nothing else, you want it cheap, and you are happy to work inside a chat interface. It is good at finding journalist requests and pitching them.

Look elsewhere when you also need the links your competitors already have. That half of the problem is not in its product, whatever the homepage says. Its highest value search positions are for the generic word featured and for personal names, not for link building.

Mentionry

Mentionry finds the specific places a business can get a backlink, and writes the thing you have to send to get it. It runs two engines. One finds pages that link to your competitors and not to you, plus resource pages and directories. The other finds journalists asking for sources, podcasts booking guests, conferences taking speakers, awards taking entries, and articles that already name you without linking.

Every opportunity comes with a drafted email, form submission or reply, sent from your own connected mailbox. Links are verified after the fact. A link removed or turned nofollow later shows as a change on the scoreboard.

Its pricing starts at $99 a month for the Watch plan. The Earn plan is $399 a month. Agency is quoted. An annual term is available and is cheaper.

Choose Mentionry when you want the reading and then the work. It reads the answers from the engines on your plan, finds the pages they cited and the people behind them, and drafts the approach. You would rather pay by the month than commit a year to find out whether any of this works.

  • Its AI answer visibility channel reads Google AI Overviews to report pages you can pitch. The other engines are what answer engine tracking records.
  • It does not pull in HARO, Source of Sources or Connectively queries automatically. You paste one in and it is judged and drafted like any other opening.
  • It sends the pitch from your mailbox. It cannot place or publish a link on somebody else's page.
  • Several channels are not built, including broken link building, registries and datasets, and the relationship inventory.

How to choose

First, separate measurement from action. If you only need to know where you stand in AI answers, buy a measurement tool. Look at the number of prompts you can track, which engines are included, and whether the price is monthly or annual.

If you need to get named after you know you are absent, you need a tool that finds opportunities and helps you pitch. Check whether it covers the channels you need, journalist requests, podcast bookings, competitor backlink gaps, and whether the outreach is drafted into your own mailbox.

Then read the pricing page. A price printed as a monthly figure with billed yearly beneath it is an annual contract. A tool that hides its price behind a contact sales button is telling you the price is negotiable and likely high. A tool that publishes a monthly price with a free trial lets you verify the fit before you commit.

Finally, ignore claims about links on homepages. Check the pricing page for what is actually included. If link building is not in the feature list there, it is not in the product.

Questions people actually ask

What does Profound's $99 a month plan include?

Profound's Starter plan at $99 a month tracks ChatGPT and nothing else. The price is billed annually, with two months free. It includes 50 prompts, 1,500 responses a month, and three seats. To track Google AI Overviews or Perplexity, you need the Growth plan at $399 a month, also on an annual term.

Is there a Profound alternative with monthly billing?

Yes. Otterly.AI offers monthly billing, starting at $29 a month for 15 prompts. Scrunch AI's Core tier is $250 a month. Mentionry's plans start at $99 a month. Profound, Peec AI and Featured.com advertise monthly prices but require annual billing on their paid tiers.

Which tool finds backlink opportunities?

Mentionry finds backlink opportunities by analyzing pages that link to your competitors and not to you, plus resource pages and directories. It then drafts the outreach. Featured.com's homepage mentions link gap analysis, but its pricing page does not list it as a feature. The other tools listed here focus on AI answer measurement and do not cover backlink prospecting.

Does any alternative track more AI engines than Profound?

Profound's Enterprise tier tracks up to nine engines. Peec AI's Enterprise tier also tracks up to eleven engines. On published plans, Scrunch AI's Core tier tracks four engines. Otterly.AI's Lite tier tracks four engines, with others as add ons. The number of engines you can track on a given plan is a key differentiator when comparing.

Run this against your own domain

Give it a domain and it works out who you compete with, mines the pages that link to them and not to you, judges every opening one at a time, and writes the email, the form or the reply. It sends them from your own mailbox, so the replies come to you.

Find out what your domain is missing

Every answer the engines give about you, read daily, with every source behind it sorted by who controls it. Some sites already have a pool worth working and some have everything left to earn, and this is the reading that tells them apart.
